Dane's Priorities

Protecting the citizens of Cache County—especially our most vulnerable—from violent and predatory criminals is my number one priority. During my time leading the Criminal Division, I have worked hand-in-hand with law enforcement to aggressively investigate and prosecute those who harm women and children, distribute deadly drugs, or commit financial exploitation and fraud. As County Attorney, I will lead the charge to establish a countywide financial crimes task force to proactively investigate and prosecute those who seek to financially exploit our citizens, stealing hard earned money and ruining lives.

Across the country, law enforcement is under attack, facing both physical dangers and political movements like “defund the police”. While it has become increasingly difficult to be a police officer, we are fortunate that Cache County citizens continue to love and respect those who serve. As County Attorney, I will translate that community support into action by fighting for:

Zero tolerance for attacks on law enforcement: I will prioritize holding anyone who harms or interferes with law enforcement accountable to the full extent of the law.

Accountability for criminals: I will support our officers by ensuring their hard work results in real consequences for those they arrest.

Standing with those who serve: I am committed to making sure our law enforcement community has a partner in the County Attorney who understands their profession and the sacrifices each of them make to serve our community.

As County Attorney, I will ensure that the taxpayer funds entrusted to this office are used with total responsibility and transparency. My record proves this commitment: as Interim County Attorney, I collaborated with the County Council to implement vital ordinance and policy changes. These actions successfully protected hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal grant funding that was at risk due to previous mismanagement. I also worked with the County Council to draft and enact policies to prevent waste, fraud, and abuse within Cache County government.

Cache County is consistently ranked as one of the safest and best places to live in the nation. I will protect that legacy by rejecting soft on crime policies of non-enforcement that have emboldened criminals in other communities. I will support smart growth that ensures affordable housing and employment opportunities for our citizens while maintaining our agricultural heritage. My goal is to ensure Cache County remains a great place to live, but a tough place to be a criminal.
