An experienced prosecutor and true Conservative Republican with a career devoted to public safety.

Dane was born and raised in Cache County, graduating from Sky View High School and Utah State University, before attending and graduating from law school at the University of Utah. Dane started his career at the Cache County Attorney’s Office in 2015 as a law clerk, after his first year of law school. Since then, he has served in the County Attorney’s Office as a misdemeanor prosecutor, a Violence Against Women Act Prosecutor, the Special Victims Unit Chief, the Chief Criminal Deputy, and as the Interim County Attorney.

During his career, Dane has prosecuted thousands of cases for crimes ranging from DUIs to homicides. The majority of Dane’s career has been focused on prosecuting violent crimes against women and children, internet crimes against children, and homicides.
Dane currently serves as the Co-Chair of the Cache County Domestic Violence Response Team, a multidisciplinary team which includes representation from CAPSA, local law enforcement agencies, and other community partners with the goal of providing victims of domestic violence with best response from both public safety and community organizations.
Dane also serves on the Statewide Association of Prosecutors Legislative Action Committee Working Groups on Domestic Violence Crimes, Sex Crimes, and General Felonies and Criminal Procedure, helping advocate for legislation that supports prosecutors, law enforcement and victims of crime.
Dane is a graduate of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center Criminal Investigator Training Program and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) Special Agent Basic Training and was the recipient of the NCIS Director’s Leadership Award. Dane was also awarded the 2023 Bridgerland Technical College Police Academy Instructor of the Year Award.

Dane is a member of the Federalist Society, the J. Reuben Clark Law Society, and the International Association of Homicide Investigators.
Dane has been an active member of the Cache GOP since he was 18 years old and has served as a County, State, or ex officio delegate in multiple election cycles beginning in 2010.
Dane and his wife Madalynn live in Smithfield and enjoy spending their time with their family and exploring the outdoors.
